Western Breaks Ground on New Turf Field and Track Improvements

Western School Corporation broke ground on its football field and track renovation project on April 30, 2026, an exciting step forward in enhancing the student experience and supporting long-term sustainability.
The project is scheduled for completion in August 2026, just in time for the fall athletic and band season. Planned improvements include converting the football field from natural grass to high-performance synthetic turf, along with resurfacing and restriping the running track. This investment will create modern, safe, and durable spaces that serve students across a wide range of sports and programs.
“Western School Corporation’s mission is to educate and inspire today’s students for tomorrow’s opportunities. We are committed to providing high-quality spaces where students can learn, compete, and take pride in their school community,” said Superintendent Mark DuBois. “This project reflects a meaningful investment in our students, our programs, and our community.”
The upgrades will provide a consistent playing surface, increased field availability, and reduced maintenance needs. The new surface is designed to support a variety of uses, from football to marching band, while performing well in a range of conditions. It also incorporates features that help reduce water use and support end-of-life recycling.
