Western School Corporation Transportation
The timely and safe delivery of students to and from school is a huge responsibility that requires the teamwork of many people. Bus drivers, bus mechanic, office staff, transportation department, and parents all act as a team to accomplish safe transportation every day.
Buses are inspected prior to leaving the transportation facility to ensure that all mechanical and safety systems operate properly. In addition, regular maintenance keeps our fleet in top condition. Indiana State Police inspects the entire fleet each winter. The bus inspections are public record and you can find our most recent bus inspection and other area schools at this link https://secure.in.gov/ISP/BusInspections/Public/SchoolCorpInfo?schoolCorpID=83&countyID=34. Western takes a lot of pride in how well we maintain our buses and our inspections prove that.
All Western School Corporation bus drivers are thoroughly trained and attend annual in-service classes to keep up-to-date with safety awareness. Each of our drivers holds their commercial driver license and are CPR/AED certified.
Each of our buses is equipped with video cameras, which are in operation on every ride. School personnel review the video to determine actual events or items in question. Parents are not able to view bus camera footage due to the privacy of all students.
Western School Corporation Transportation Department is open Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. If you call outside of these hours, you are welcome to leave a message and we will get back with you. The Transportation Department is located in the Administration Office or via phone 765-883-5576
